CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Austin Joseph Griffith, 22, of Hernshaw, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for distributing methamphetamine in Kanawha County.

Griffith admitted to selling approximately 560 grams of methamphetamine for $4,000 to an informant at his residence on December 13, 2021. He also sold quantities of fentanyl to the same informant twice in March 2022.

A search warrant executed at Griffith’s residence on March 25, 2022, yielded additional methamphetamine and fentanyl, further substantiating his involvement in drug trafficking. United States Attorney Will Thompson announced the sentence and commended the DEA and Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office for their investigative efforts.

The sentence was imposed by United States District Judge Irene C. Berger, with Assistant United States Attorney Jeremy B. Wolfe handling the prosecution of the case.
