Fayetteville, AR – Gabriel Perkhofer, a 48-year-old Australian permanent resident, thought he’d found the perfect prey. He messaged an undercover cop posing as a mom with two minor daughters and started sending explicit files. Perkhofer even traveled from Missouri to meet the imaginary mother, but instead, he got arrested for state law violations.
A search of his phone revealed a massive stash of child pornography and disturbing communications with other predators. Perkhofer was indicted in July 2024 and pleaded guilty in December 2025.
U.S. Attorney Kimberly D. Harris announced the 28-year sentence, which will be followed by lifetime supervised release. Perkhofer’s crimes were part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sex abuse.
As the feds crack down on child exploitation, one thing’s clear: would-be predators better watch their backs. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI investigated this case, while U.S. Attorneys Tyler Williams, Devon Still, and Dustin Roberts brought Perkhofer to justice.
