⏱ 2 min read

Laura Parrish, a 59-year-old former bank employee, has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for stealing over $400,000 from bank customers in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The theft occurred between November 2016 and January 2024, while Parrish was working at a local bank. She used customer funds to make payments on her personal credit cards and transfer funds to her external online financial account.

Parrish pleaded guilty to one count of bank theft on December 4, 2025, and was sentenced by United States District Judge Brian S. Miller. The investigation revealed that Parrish had embezzled funds from one family, including a deceased family member, in the amount of $364,000. She used these funds to make payments on her personal credit cards and loans to benefit herself and her family members.

Parrish’s scheme also involved opening personal credit cards in the names of other people and using the accounts of the bank’s customers to make payments on those credit cards. In one instance, she submitted a credit card application using the name, date of birth, and social security number of a deceased bank customer. Parrish continued to embezzle funds from this account even after the customer’s death in March 2023.

In addition to her prison sentence, Parrish was also sentenced to three years of supervised release. The case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Arkansas.
