BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Patricia Lamar Brewer, 48, a Simpson County, Kentucky woman, was handed a 46-month federal prison sentence yesterday by District Court Judge Greg N. Stivers for her terrifying bank robbery. The sentence includes an order to pay $43,100 in restitution, announced U.S. Attorney John E. Kuhn, Jr.
Kuhn emphasized the severity of the crime, stating, ‘Every bank robbery jeopardizes safety, and Brewer’s actions were especially heinous as she threatened violence against employees, customers, and even an alleged child hostage.’
Brewer, who had previously robbed a bank in Panama City Beach, Florida, donned a disguise to rob the Citizens First Bank in Franklin, Kentucky, on July 30, 2012, netting $43,100. Her threatening note read: ‘Don’t call cops or set off any alarms… if she doesn’t do what we say, she will die and her daughter along with everyone in this bank.’
Evidence from the Florida robbery linked Brewer to the Kentucky incident, leading to her arrest. Despite previous convictions for similar crimes, Brewer remains free on bond.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Weiser and investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Brewer faces a grim future in federal prison for her violent financial crime.
