Battocletti Kristen Marie Charged with Wire Fraud in Birmingham AL
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A former administrative assistant at St. Francis of Assisi University Parish in Tuscaloosa has been charged with embezzling money from the church.
Kristen Marie Battocletti, 35, was charged with one count of wire fraud, according to a one-count Information filed in United States District Court.
Between April and October 2023, Battocletti allegedly engaged in a scheme to defraud St. Francis of Assisi University Parish, stealing approximately $300,000 from the church.
The funds stolen by Battocletti were used to purchase over $220,000 in TikTok Coins and to pay personal expenses. Battocletti used the TikTok Coins to send digital gifts to TikTok content creators.
Battocletti has agreed to plead guilty to the charge, according to a plea agreement filed this week. The Court will set a date for Battocletti to enter her guilty plea.
The maximum penalty for wire fraud is 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Edward J. Canter, and investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
