Adam Sloan, Child Sexual Abuse Material Production, California 2023

Columbia, SC — Aiken County resident Adam Sloan, 40, has been dealt a severe blow by the federal judiciary after being sentenced to more than 17 years in federal prison for his production of child sexual abuse material.

Sloan’s descent into the criminal world began with online fraud, a path that led FBI agents to uncover an even darker chapter during their April 18, 2023, search warrant at Sloan’s residence. The evidence retrieved from his electronic devices painted a chilling picture: videos and images of several minor girls being subjected to sexual abuse by a hidden camera, the device placed and manipulated by Sloan himself while the victims were at his home for birthday parties and sleepovers.

Senior United States District Judge Cameron McGowan Currie handed down a 210-month sentence, with no parole in the federal system. Sloan was also ordered to pay $5,021 in restitution to one of the requesting victims. This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a justice department initiative combating child sexual exploitation and abuse.

“This sentence reflects the gravity of Sloan’s actions,” said Senior United States District Judge Currie, who presided over the hearing. “The harm done to these young girls can never be undone, but this conviction sends a clear message that such despicable behavior will not be tolerated.”

The FBI Columbia Field Office and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office collaborated on the investigation of Sloan, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Lee Holmes and Dean H. Secor leading the prosecution effort.
