ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA – In a grim reminder of the methamphetamine crisis gripping West Virginia, Cody Ray Robinson, 32, of Belington, has been handed a 120-month federal prison sentence for selling methamphetamine in Barbour County.
Robinson’s conviction marks the culmination of an investigation that peeled back the layers of drug trafficking in the region. The defendant, who has previously been convicted for drug trafficking and petit larceny, now faces years behind bars.
Emily Ann Swecker, 34, of Coalton, West Virginia, has also been sentenced to serve 110 months for her role in selling methamphetamine in Randolph County. Swecker’s prior convictions for drug offenses were a stark indicator that she had not reformed her ways, according to authorities.
William Charles Wilson, known as “BJ Wilson,” 40, of Franklin, West Virginia, was sentenced to 51 months for selling methamphetamine in Pendleton County. His previous convictions for domestic battery, assault, and drug offenses painted a picture of a man with a violent and criminal past.
The government’s prosecution of these cases was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner. The investigation was a collaborative effort between the Mountain Region Drug Task Force, the Potomac Highlands Drug Task Force, the West Virginia State Police, and the Pendleton County Sheriff’s Office.
Presiding over the sentencing was Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh, who ensured that justice was served in this case of drug trafficking and distribution.
