Bourg Man Sentenced for Child Pornography Charges
RODDY VIZIER, 41, of Bourg, Louisiana, has been sentenced to 66 months incarceration for his role in the sexual exploitation of children, announced U. S. Attorney Dana J. Boente.
Following his term in incarceration, VIZIER will be placed on 10 years of supervised release and will be required to register as a sex offender.
According to court documents, VIZIER was indicted by a federal grand jury on December 14, 2012, for Receipt of Materials Involving the Sexual Exploitation of Minors.
He was arrested by federal agents with the U. S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), on the same day.
On March 28, 2013, VIZIER pled guilty in federal court to the indictment.
Special agents with HSI determined VIZIER was downloading images depicting the sexual victimization of children through the use of peer-to-peer file sharing software.
Agents learned that VIZIER was a crew member aboard the maritime vessel Harvey War Horse II, which was docked in Port Fourchon, LA, and was scheduled to depart for Jamaica.
HSI agents boarded the vessel and searched VIZIER’s computer, discovering 26 videos and 789 images of child pornography.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
