A guilty verdict was handed down to Brandon Dunn, a 20-year-old man from New Orleans, Louisiana.
Dunn pleaded guilty on April 1, 2026 before U.S. District Judge Greg G. Guidry to conspiracy to distribute, and possession with intent to distribute, marijuana, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1), 841(b)(1)(D), and 846, and possession of a machinegun, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 922(o) and 924(a)(2).
The charges against Dunn were brought by the U.S. Department of Justice, USAO, in the state of Alabama, but the case was prosecuted in the Eastern District of Louisiana.
Dunn’s guilty plea comes after an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the New Orleans Police Department.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana credited the ATF and the New Orleans Police Department for their work in bringing Dunn to justice.
A sentencing date has not been set for Dunn, but he faces a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison for the conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute charges, and up to 10 years in prison for the machinegun possession charge.
The case is a stark reminder of the ongoing problem of gun violence and drug trafficking in the city of New Orleans.
