Brandon Turner, Possession with Intent to Distribute, Louisiana 2025

New Orleans, Louisiana – Brandon Turner, a 39-year-old New Orleans resident, was handed down a tough sentence by United States District Judge Susie Morgan on August 26, 2025. The court sentenced Turner to 210 months for possession with the intent to distribute controlled substances and firearm possession in furtherance of drug trafficking.

Turner pleaded guilty to Counts One, Two, and Three of the indictment against him. Count One charges him with possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, while Count Two accuses him of possessing a Glock Model 43, nine-millimeter caliber pistol, in furtherance of a drug crime. Count Three makes Turner liable for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The sentencing includes 150 months for Counts One and Three, to be served concurrently, and an additional 60 months for Count Two, to follow consecutively. Upon release from prison, Turner will be on supervised release for four years, concurrent with the terms for Counts One and Two. A $300 special assessment fee also applies.

Turner’s arrest on January 30, 2024, led to the discovery of a substantial amount of fentanyl, ammunition, and the firearm in his apartment. He was aware that as a convicted felon, he was prohibited from possessing the firearm and ammunition.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence. Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the New Orleans Police Department, and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office for their efforts in bringing Turner to justice.

The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Troy Bell of the Violent Crime Unit.
