A Bridgeport man has pleaded guilty to a heinous crime that has left a community in shock. Brandon Williams, 35, also known as “14K,” pleaded guilty to one count of sex trafficking of a minor before U.S. District Judge Michael P. Shea in Hartford.

According to court documents and statements made in court, in July and August 2015, Williams caused a minor female, who he knew was under the age of 18, to engage in commercial sex acts. The minor victim’s sexual services were advertised on the internet websites Backpage and Cityvibe, and Williams rented hotel rooms in which he and the minor victim stayed.

The charge of sex trafficking of a minor carries a maximum term of imprisonment of life. Williams has been detained since his arrest on related state charges on August 26, 2015.

The investigation into Williams’ crimes was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security Investigations, with the assistance of the Bridgeport Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sarala V. Nagala and David E. Novick.

Williams’ guilty plea marks a significant victory for law enforcement and a step towards justice for the victim. However, the sentence he will face remains to be seen. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.
