Buffalo Man Charged in $250,000 Marijuana Bust
BUFFALO, N.Y.–A 44-year-old Buffalo man is facing serious charges after a major marijuana bust.
According to federal authorities, Keith Goss attempted to take possession of a crate containing 315 pounds of marijuana valued at over $250,000 on June 12, 2013. The crate was being shipped from Tucson, Arizona, and was intercepted by law enforcement before it was delivered to Goss’s home on Fillmore Avenue in Buffalo.
The charges against Goss carry a minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and a maximum sentence of life, with a possible fine of $10,000,000.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas S. Duszkiewicz stated that the investigation, which involved the DEA and the Tonawanda Police Department, was a major success in disrupting a significant marijuana operation.
Goss made an initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah J. McCarthy and is being held pending a detention hearing on June 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.
The investigation was a joint effort between the DEA, under the direction of Brian R. Crowell, and the Tonawanda Police Department, under the direction of Anthony Palombo, with the assistance of the DEA Office in Nogales, Arizona.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
