A Buffalo man is headed to the slammer after being caught with a loaded gun and a stash of cocaine in his home.
Gilbert Santiago, 39, was sentenced to 48 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
The feds found the .22 semi-automatic rifle and 30 rounds of ammo during a search warrant at his City of Tonawanda residence in August 2019.
But that wasn’t all – in February 2020, investigators discovered five grams of cocaine and drug paraphernalia at the same location.
Santiago’s sentence comes after he was convicted of felony crimes in Erie County Court in 2013 and 2014, making him ineligible to possess a firearm.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Franz M. Wright prosecuted the case, which was led by the DEA’s New York Field Division under Special Agent-in-Charge Farhana Islam.
