“Burke County Meth Kingpin Sentenced to 19.5+ Years” is the harsh reality facing convicted felon Jessie Alan Clark, 42, of Burke County, North Carolina. Clark was sentenced to 235 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release on drug and gun charges.
A federal grand jury in the Western District of North Carolina handed down the conviction. Clark is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition due to his prior felony convictions. The sentence was announced by U.S. Attorney Dena J. King, who praised the investigation led by the DEA and the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.
The charges against Clark stem from a February 2022 traffic stop. Investigators with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office and DEA agents observed a truck attempting to evade law enforcement. A backpack was tossed out of the passenger side of the vehicle, which law enforcement recovered. Clark, the driver, and another individual were pulled over. During the stop, authorities seized $1,915 in cash, two gallon-sized bags containing methamphetamine, and a loaded Taurus .38 caliber revolver with six rounds of ammunition.
Clark pleaded guilty on August 21, 2023, to conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Hess prosecuted the case.
The investigation was a collaborative effort between the DEA and the Burke County Sheriff’s Office. U.S. Attorney King thanked both agencies for their dedication to bringing Clark to justice.
Clark will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service until he is transported to a designated U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility to serve his sentence. This non-paroleable sentence will keep the meth kingpin behind bars for nearly two decades.”
