A federal judge in Omaha handed down a harsh sentence to Cameron Carodine, 33, for his role in a significant firearm and drug trafficking operation.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) investigated Carodine, who was arrested on March 5, 2020, after a traffic stop in Omaha.
According to court records, on February 25, 2020, a confidential source purchased 500 fentanyl pills from Carodine during a controlled buy in Omaha.
On the day of his arrest, Carodine was seen leaving his residence and driving away in a gray 2012 Chevrolet Malibu without license plates.
Law enforcement conducted a traffic stop and took Carodine into custody, seizing his vehicle and several hundred fentanyl pills and a Glock 21, .45 caliber handgun from his residence.
Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. sentenced Carodine to 90 months’ imprisonment on the drug charge and a consecutive 60 months of imprisonment on the firearm charge, for a total sentence of 150 months.
Carodine will also serve a 5-year term of supervised release after his release from prison, as there is no parole in the federal system.
