HUNTSVILLE, Alabama – The gritty streets of Huntsville were hit with a federal crackdown this week as four individuals faced the music for their alleged immigration crimes and drug operations. According to U.S. Attorney Prim Escalona, a federal grand jury indicted Victor Alfonso Contreras-Gonzalez, 41, a citizen of Mexico, Arturo Ayala-Aviles, 33, from El Salvador, Jose Jacuinde-Gutierrez, 32, also a Mexican national, and Marco Antonio Sanchez-Avila, 47, another Mexican citizen.
Contreras-Gonzalez and Ayala-Avilés are both charged with illegal reentry into the United States after having previously been deported. Jacuinde-Gutierrez faces additional charges for distributing cocaine. A true menace to society, Sanchez-Avila is accused of being a felon in possession of a firearm and an alien in possession of a firearm.
This sweep is part of Operation Take Back America, the Department of Justice’s nationwide initiative that aims to repel illegal immigration, dismantle cartels, and protect communities from violent crime. The operation leverages resources from OCDETFs and PSN, with Homeland Security Investigations leading the charge on this investigation.
Despite the severity of their charges, these defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty, as per standard legal procedure. This hard-hitting team is determined to take back America one case at a time.
