Cesar Ruiz-Aguilar
is facing serious charges after being
accused of illegal re-entry of a removed alien in Louisiana. According to
authorities, Ruiz-Aguilar, 38, re-entered the United States without
authorization from the Attorney General of the United States, after
being previously deported on March 13, 2010 and May 17, 2017.
Ruiz-Aguilar was found in the United States on February 1, 2024, and
was subsequently charged with a bill of information on February 13, 2025.
According to the charging document, Ruiz-Aguilar’s actions are in
violation of Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a), which
carries a maximum term of imprisonment of two years, followed by up
to one year of supervised release, a fine of up to $250,000.00, and
a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.00.
Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson reiterated that a bill of
information is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant
must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
Simpson praised the work of the United States Immigration and Customs
Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations and Tangipahoa
Sheriff’s Office in investigating this matter. Assistant United States
Attorney Jon M. Maestri of the General Crimes Unit is in charge of
the prosecution. The case against Ruiz-Aguilar is ongoing, and
he is currently awaiting trial.
