Cesar Urrea-Navarette, a 34-year-old man from Meridian, Idaho, has been handed a harsh sentence for his involvement in a methamphetamine trafficking operation.

The court sentenced Urrea-Navarette to 150 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for possession with intent to distribute in excess of fifty grams of actual methamphetamine.

Urrea-Navarette pleaded guilty to the charges on December 18, 2012. The crime took place on July 7, 2011, when Urrea-Navarette sold 55.10 grams of actual methamphetamine to an undercover officer in exchange for $2,400 at a restaurant parking lot in Boise.

Chief U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill also imposed a fine of $1,000 on Urrea-Navarette. His co-defendant, Ruben Moreno Sanchez, was sentenced to 151 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute fifty grams or more of actual methamphetamine in September 2012.

The investigation into Urrea-Navarette’s activities was a joint effort by the Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, in conjunction with Idaho State Police, Drug Enforcement Administration, and Boise Police Department.

The OCDETF program provides supplemental federal funding to federal and state agencies involved in the identification, investigation, and prosecution of major drug trafficking organizations.
