Kyle Sloan Reed, Meth Trafficking, Montana 2019

A Kalispell man who admitted to trafficking methamphetamine he received from a California source has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and five years of supervised release.

Kyle Sloan Reed, 24, pleaded guilty on November 20, 2020 to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

According to court documents, in February 2019, law enforcement arrested a person identified as John Doe in Missoula, Montana. Doe had in his possession approximately 2.6 pounds of pure methamphetamine, which is equivalent to 9,422 doses.

John Doe informed officers that he was bringing the methamphetamine to Montana from California and that a portion of it was intended for Reed. Other individuals cooperating with law enforcement stated that they saw Reed with multiple pounds of methamphetamine for distribution.

U.S. District Judge Dana L. Christensen presided over the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Clark prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the Northwest Montana Drug Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a U.S. government initiative to reduce violent crime. Through this program, federal, tribal, state, and local law enforcement partners in Montana focus on violent crime driven by methamphetamine trafficking, armed robbers, firearms offenses, and violent offenders with outstanding warrants.
