Child Porn Charges Hit Streetsboro Man
A Streetsboro man has been hit with federal charges related to child pornography, according to a federal indictment unsealed in the Northern District of Ohio.
Ronald Flick, 46, was charged with two counts of child pornography, including one count of receiving and distributing visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and one count of possessing computers, hard drives and compact discs containing child pornography.
Assistant United States Attorney Michael Sullivan will lead the prosecution of the case, which was the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Streetsboro Police Department.
According to the indictment, Flick’s alleged crimes are a serious threat to the community and the safety of children. While an indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt, the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt if Flick is to be convicted.
The case is a reminder that law enforcement agencies are working together to combat the scourge of child pornography and protect the vulnerable.
Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, and Stephen D. Anthony, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Cleveland Office, praised the collaborative effort that brought the case to fruition.
The indictment serves as a warning to those who would seek to exploit and harm children. If convicted, Flick faces serious consequences, including significant prison time and the destruction of his reputation. An indictment is only a charge and not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
