Coalgate Man Pleads Guilty To Theft Of Government Funds
A Coalgate man is behind bars after pleading guilty to stealing over $1,000 from the Social Security Administration.
John Richard Flournoy, 47, of Coalgate, Oklahoma, was accused of stealing Supplemental Security Income payments to which he knew he was not entitled.
The charges arose from an investigation by the Social Security Administration, Office of Inspector General, which found that Flournoy stole the money between February 2011 and December 2013.
The indictment alleged that Flournoy stole more than $1,000 worth of government funds during this time period.
Flournoy’s guilty plea was accepted by the Honorable Kimberly E. West, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee.
Assistant United States Attorney Rob Wallace represented the United States in the case, which was first indicted in December 2015.
Flournoy’s sentencing is set to take place after the completion of a presentence report, but the exact date has not been released.
