Ariel Kornienko, a 43-year-old woman from Covington, Louisiana, has been sentenced to 9 months in prison for distributing brutally cruel animal crush videos online. Between October 25, 2023, and June 7, 2024, Kornienko shared obscene and shockingly cruel videos depicting monkeys being impaled, penetrated with objects, set on fire, and subjected to serious bodily injury and death. The disturbing content was distributed online, sparking a federal investigation. Kornienko pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 9 months of imprisonment, followed by 6 months of home detention and 3 years of supervised release.

The investigation was led by the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Cyber Crimes Group, in conjunction with HSI’s Wildlife and Environmental Unit. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mary Katherine Kaufman, Assistant U.S. Attorney Jon Maestri, and Ethan Eddy of the U.S. Department of Justice Environmental Crimes Section.
