Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson has announced that Trevis Williams, a 46-year-old Dallas resident, pleaded guilty for violating the Federal Gun Control Act at Louis Armstrong International Airport.
Court documents reveal that on March 16, 2025, TSA agents discovered a firearm and ammunition in Williams’ carry-on bag during security screening. An investigation by the FBI confirmed that Williams was prohibited from possessing the Glock Model 30 semi-automatic pistol and nine rounds of ammunition due to prior felony convictions.
Williams faces a maximum sentence of fifteen years imprisonment, fines up to $250,000, three years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment fee. Sentencing is set for December 16, 2025.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a federal initiative aimed at reducing gun violence and making neighborhoods safer. Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended the efforts of TSA, FBI, ATF, and Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in this investigation.
Assistant United States Attorney Jon Maestri is leading the prosecution of Williams. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by illegal firearm possession and the commitment of law enforcement to keeping our airports safe.
