Rock Island Man Sentenced to Prison for Drug and Firearm Offenses

A 29-year-old Rock Island, Illinois, man, Darrell Kenneth Holloway, has been sentenced to prison for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and felon in possession of a firearm in Iowa.

According to a recent court ruling, on December 30, 2020, United States District Court Chief Judge John A. Jarvey sentenced Holloway to 150 months in prison for the crimes.

Holloway was arrested in July 2019 after a domestic dispute with his girlfriend turned violent. He fled into Iowa and was apprehended by law enforcement in Bettendorf, where a .45 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun was found in his vehicle, along with 36 pills containing a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine.

As a convicted felon, Holloway is prohibited from possessing a firearm, making the charges of felon in possession of a firearm a serious offense.

The investigation was led by the Bettendorf Police Department, and the case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.

Following his prison term, Holloway was ordered to serve three years of supervised release and pay $200 to the Crime Victims’ Fund.
