David Carbonaro, Child Exploitation, Pennsylvania 2023

David Carbonaro, 28, of Upper Darby, PA, was sentenced to 22 years and 1 month in prison, lifetime supervised release, and was ordered to pay $38,000 in restitution for numerous child exploitation offenses.

Carbonaro pleaded guilty in November 2019 to charges of production, distribution, and possession of child pornography, stemming from his horrendous sexual abuse of a three-year-old in his care when she was just a toddler.

According to court documents, Carbonaro conducted ‘photo shoots’ of the minor child in sexualized poses and directed his co-defendant Kayla Parker to sexually abuse the child for his viewing pleasure.

Law enforcement came upon the evidence of these deplorable crimes while investigating Carbonaro for distributing child pornography over the internet. The search warrant executed at Carbonaro’s residence in Delaware County yielded thousands of images of child pornography in his collection, including nine images depicting the sexual abuse of the minor child.

Acting U.S. Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams stated, ‘Sexually exploiting and abusing a three-year-old child is simply too awful for most people to even think about.’

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Josh A. Davison.

Attorney General Josh Shapiro stated, ‘Children are among the most vulnerable members of our Commonwealth, and thanks to the strong communication and collaboration with our federal and state law enforcement partners, we were able to hold the defendant accountable for his abhorrent crimes.’

Special Agent in Charge for Homeland Security Investigations Philadelphia Brian A. Michael stated, ‘Rescuing children from these predatory violators is a top priority for Homeland Security Investigations.’
