Robert Spriggs, a 38-year-old DC resident, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for his role in a large-scale marijuana distribution operation and for illegally possessing multiple firearms. The conspiracy, which involved trips between the Baltimore-Washington area and Los Angeles, took place from October 2023 to May 2024. Spriggs and his co-conspirators made multiple trips to obtain marijuana, which they then sold from an apartment in the 1900 block of C Street SE, known as the ‘Spot’.
On one such trip in February 2024, law enforcement intercepted Spriggs and two co-conspirators at BWI Airport, finding 54.5 pounds of marijuana packed in vacuum-sealed bags in Spriggs’s two suitcases. Further investigation revealed that Spriggs coordinated drug sales and stored firearms, including an AK-style rifle, a Springfield XD pistol, and a Kahr .45-caliber pistol, at his residence.
Spriggs pleaded guilty on March 3, 2026, to conspiracy to distribute marijuana and to unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. In addition to his 30-month prison term, U.S. District Judge Dabney L. Friedrich ordered Spriggs to serve three years of supervised release. The investigation was conducted by the FBI Washington Field Office.
The case highlights the ongoing issue of drug trafficking in the District of Columbia and the importance of law enforcement efforts to combat such crimes. Spriggs’s sentence serves as a reminder of the consequences of engaging in illegal activities, particularly those involving firearms and narcotics.
