A 51-year-old Dominican national, Angel Daniel Cruz-Sanchez, pleaded guilty to unlawfully reentering the United States after deportation in Boston, MA. Cruz-Sanchez, a repeat offender with multiple drug trafficking convictions, was charged in April 2026 and faces up to 20 years in prison. He was previously deported in 2019 and 2023. The reason behind his reentry is unclear, but his history of drug trafficking suggests a possible connection to organized crime.
Cruz-Sanchez’s guilty plea was accepted by U.S. District Court Chief Judge Denise J. Casper, who scheduled sentencing for November 12, 2026. The defendant’s history of drug trafficking convictions dates back to 2003, with additional convictions in 2008 and 2018. These convictions, combined with his repeated attempts to reenter the country, demonstrate a pattern of disregard for the law.
The charge of unlawful reentry of a deported alien carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Cruz-Sanchez is also subject to deportation upon completion of any sentence imposed. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Sullivan Jacobus of the Major Crimes Unit.

Wesling, Acting Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston.
