Des Moines Man Sentenced for Methamphetamine Crimes
A Des Moines man has been sentenced to 210 months in prison for his involvement in a methamphetamine trafficking operation, authorities announced today.
Timothy Ray Kain, 30, was handed down the sentence by United States District Court Chief Judge John A. Jarvey on June 21, 2018, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense.
Kain admitted to conspiring with others to distribute in excess of five kilograms of pure methamphetamine and possessed a firearm during his drug trafficking activities, according to court documents.
The investigation into Kain’s activities was led by the Des Moines Police Department. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
Kain will also serve five years of supervised release following his prison term, according to court documents.
The charges against Kain stem from his involvement in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in the Des Moines area, with some of the drugs being transported from out of state, authorities said.
Kain’s case serves as a reminder of the serious consequences that individuals face when they engage in drug trafficking and other serious crimes, according to authorities.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa continues to work with local law enforcement to disrupt and dismantle organized crime groups and hold individuals accountable for their crimes.
