WASHINGTON – Mustafa Wright, 32, a resident of the District of Columbia, faces federal charges for unlawful firearm and ammunition possession, following an arrest in Southeast Washington. The charges were announced by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro as part of the “Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful” initiative.
Wright is accused of possessing a Glock 17 9 mm pistol, loaded with one round in the chamber and 22 additional rounds in the magazine, despite his felony status. His prior convictions include burglary in 2014 and being a felon in possession of a firearm in 2019.
The arrest occurred on August 17, 2025, when U.S. Park Police officers impounded Wright’s vehicle for expired tags. During a routine search, the illegal weapons were discovered.
Special Agent Anthony Spotswood and Chief Jessica M.E. Taylor of the U.S. Park Police joined the announcement. The “Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful” initiative aims to prioritize federal firearms violations and seek detention for violators.
The ATF Washington Field Office and the United States Park Police are investigating the case, with Special Assistant U.S. Attorney David B. Liss prosecuting. It is important to note that an indictment is merely an allegation, and Wright is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
