Dominique Davis, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, District of Columbia 2024

WASHINGTON – In a brutal turn of events, Dominique Davis, 26, from the District of Columbia, has been meted out a severe penalty for his lawless actions. Today, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced that Davis was sentenced to 37 months in federal prison for being a previously convicted felon in possession of a handgun.

Davis pleaded guilty on March 4, 2025, to unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. The sentence handed down by Judge Trevor N. McFadden also mandates three years of supervised release following his prison term.

The crime that led to Davis’s downfall occurred on September 26, 2024. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers were patrolling the streets when they caught a whiff of burning marijuana on the 4300 block of 4th Street, SE. Approaching the scene, they found four men smoking. One of them, identified as Davis, was caught with a large, lit marijuana cigarette in hand.

As the officers requested that Davis extinguish his cigarette, he attempted to gather his belongings. It was then that police discovered a Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun loaded with one round in the chamber and 16 additional rounds in a magazine. A warrant for Davis’s arrest out of Prince George’s County, Maryland, for first-degree assault also came to light.

This case was meticulously investigated by the MPD and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Benjamin Helfand and Emily Reeder-Ricchetti. The grim reality of Davis’s sentence serves as a stark reminder of the consequences faced by felons who continue to flout the law.
