Tulsa Man Sentenced for Attempted Receipt of Child Pornography

A disturbing tale of online exploitation has come to light in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Don Westly Roe Jr., a 62-year-old resident of Tulsa, has been sentenced to 82 months in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release for attempting to receive child pornography.

The crime occurred from February 4, 2020, to April 5, 2020, during which time Roe initiated online conversations with an individual he believed to be a minor female. In reality, he was communicating with an undercover officer from the Bristow Police Department.

Roe’s online conversations with the undercover officer became increasingly sexual in nature, with the defendant requesting explicit photographs of the ‘minor.’ He even arranged for the two to meet, which ultimately led to his arrest by law enforcement.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson, Roe’s actions were reprehensible and deserving of severe punishment. Thankfully, the undercover officer’s bravery helped bring this predator to justice.

The investigation was conducted by the Bristow Police Department and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin G. Bish prosecuted the case.
