Defendant Faces Up to 10 Years in Prison for Possession of Child Pornography
A 69-year-old man from Windber, PA, has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, a federal crime that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Donald T. Reese, a resident of Windber, PA, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography before United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson in federal court.
According to the court, Reese knowingly possessed videos in individual computer graphic files that were produced using minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. The computer graphic files were shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce.
The Southwest Computer Crime Task Force of the Pennsylvania State Police conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Reese.
Assistant United States Attorney John J. Valkovci, Jr., is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Reese is scheduled to be sentenced on December 15, 2014, at 1 p.m. The actual sentence imposed will be based on the seriousness of the offense and Reese’s prior criminal history, if any.
