BUFFALO, N.Y. — The grim tale of Yuizanet Elias, a 46-year-old U.S. citizen, takes a darker turn as she faces charges for transporting an illegal alien within the United States. This crime carries a severe penalty: up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The saga unfolded on May 18, 2025, when Immigration and Customs Enforcement Office of Enforcement and Removal Operations (ICE ERO) agents set their sights on Elias’s North Tonawanda residence. Their surveillance led them to confront Elias, who had her boyfriend, the illegal alien Jose Antonio Arzate-Negron, 34, inside. Despite knowing that Arzate-Negron was in the country illegally, Elias refused to bring him out.
Elias’s brazen behavior continued as agents observed her conduct counter-surveillance in July 2025, trying to evade law enforcement during Arzate-Negron’s exits from their home. The situation escalated on July 25 when Elias fled after agents attempted to stop her vehicle. After a brief pursuit, Arzate-Negron was captured, while Elias remained at large.
Today, Elias made an initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Roemer and was released on conditions. The charges stem from an ICE ERO investigation directed by Acting Field Office Director Steven Kurzdorfer.
The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. No further details were provided regarding her bail or the next court date.
