Kentwood Man Faces Justice for Methamphetamine Possession

Eric Brown, a 38-year-old man from Kentwood, Louisiana, has been brought to justice for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation. Brown pleaded guilty to one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Quantity of Methamphetamine and was sentenced to time served (30 months) and 3 years of supervised release.

The investigation into Brown’s activities began on June 22, 2014, when a Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s deputy responded to a suspicious person report at 69062 South River Road in Kentwood. When the deputy arrived at the residence, he observed individuals fleeing the scene. The deputy then noticed several males outside the rear of the residence and detected an odor consistent with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Four individuals were outside the rear of the residence, including Brown, who was sitting in a white Lincoln. The deputy then noticed in plain view of the vehicle twenty-four zip-lock baggies containing approximately three grams of methamphetamine and a Smith and Wesson .38 special revolver on the vehicle’s floorboard.

The deputy met with a female at the residence who told him that she and Brown resided at the residence and that Brown ‘cooked’ methamphetamine in their bedroom the previous night. Deputies and DEA Task Force Officers searched the residence and found three inactive methamphetamine labs in a refrigerator in the master bedroom.

Acting U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans praised the work of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office in investigating this matter. Assistant U.S. Attorney Andre’ Jones was in charge of the prosecution.

Brown’s sentencing is a significant blow to the methamphetamine trafficking ring, and it serves as a reminder of the severe consequences for those who engage in such activities. The community can rest assured that law enforcement agencies will continue to work tirelessly to disrupt and dismantle these types of operations.

In a statement, Acting U.S. Attorney Evans emphasized the importance of the investigation and the role that the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office played in bringing Brown to justice.
