EVANSVILLE, IN – Brandon Kyle Meredith Adcox, a 39-year-old resident of Evansville, Indiana, has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison for distributing child sexual abuse material via the Kik Messenger app. According to court documents, Adcox uploaded and distributed 36 files containing such graphic content between June 10 and June 15, 2021.
The investigation began when the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and the Evansville Police Department (EPD) received a CyberTip about the illegal activities. Kik Messenger provided the email address linked to the offending account, which was registered under Adcox’s name. A warrant led to Adcox’s arrest, during which he confessed to his crimes.
Upon searching Adcox’s residence, detectives uncovered a horror: videos and images depicting child sexual abuse, including one showing an adult female performing oral sex on a baby under one year old. U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Myers called out the defendant’s actions, stating, “Criminals like this defendant use online platforms to share child sexual abuse materials and should take note of the sentence imposed today.”
FBI Indianapolis Special Agent in Charge Herbert J. Stapleton echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the FBI’s dedication to protecting children from predators like Adcox.
The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Richard L. Young, who also ordered Adcox to be supervised for 10 years post-release and to register as a sex offender. Assistant United States Attorney Todd Shellenbarger prosecuted the case, with invaluable assistance from the Indiana ICAC Task Force.
The Indiana ICAC Task Force is at the forefront of combating technology-facilitated sexual exploitation of children, having investigated thousands of tips and hundreds of cases over recent years. This sentence comes as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide DOJ initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
