The streets of Northwest Arkansas just got a little safer, thanks to the sentencing of five members of a Fayetteville-based drug trafficking organization.
A federal court in Fayetteville handed down the sentences, with the final member, 42-year-old Joe Chantharath of Springdale, receiving the harshest punishment.
According to court documents, Chantharath was sentenced to 135 months in prison, followed by a 3-year term of supervised release, and an additional 24 months in prison to run consecutively to his new sentence due to his federal supervised release being revoked.
Chantharath’s father, Anthony Chantharath, 35, of Springdale, received a 137-month prison sentence and 3-year term of supervised release for his role in the conspiracy.
Kevin Michael Burke, 37, of Bryant, was sentenced to 235 months in prison and 3 years of supervised release for his involvement in the distribution of methamphetamine.
Ryan Seth Bruce, 35, of Clinton, received a 72-month prison sentence and 3-year term of supervised release for his role in the conspiracy.
Destiny DeAnne Satterfield, 25, of Springdale, was sentenced to 77 months in prison and 3 years of supervised release for her involvement in the conspiracy.
The investigation into the drug trafficking organization was led by the 4th Judicial District Drug Task Force, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Eaton handling the prosecution.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Arkansas announced the sentencing, with U.S. Attorney David Clay Fowlkes praising the efforts of the investigators and prosecutors involved in the case.
The sentencing brings an end to the investigation, which began in October 2022, and resulted in the indictment of the five defendants for their roles in the distribution of methamphetamine in the Northwest Arkansas area.
