Starkville Meth Kingpin Sentenced to 15 Years
A Starkville man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in a major methamphetamine distribution ring in northern Mississippi.
Chad Boyd, 41, also known as Chadrick Robinson, was handed down a 180-month sentence by U.S. District Judge Michael P. Mills on Thursday. Boyd had previously pleaded guilty to distributing 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance.
Boyd was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals following his sentencing hearing, and will be required to serve 5 years of supervised release upon his release from prison.
U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner praised the work of law enforcement agencies in bringing Boyd to justice, saying, “Individuals who chose to spend their time selling meth and other illegal drugs in the Northern District of Mississippi should know that this office and our law enforcement partners will do all we can to see that they are removed from the community and sent to prison.”
FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert A. Eikhoff added, “The sentencing of Mr. Boyd underscores the positive impacts law enforcement has on the communities affected by the drug crisis. Criminals like Mr. Boyd can expect the FBI and our federal, state, and local partners to remain steadfast in our resolve to remove offenders from the communities where they would otherwise bring the violence and the criminal activity inextricably linked to illegal drugs.”
The case was investigated by the FBI and the Starkville Police Department, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Mims.
Boyd’s sentencing marks a significant victory for law enforcement in the fight against methamphetamine trafficking in northern Mississippi. The case serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences of distributing and using illicit substances, and the commitment of federal, state, and local agencies to bringing those responsible to justice.
The case is a testament to the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies in Mississippi, and highlights the importance of working together to combat the opioid epidemic and other forms of substance abuse.
As the opioid crisis continues to ravage communities across the country, the sentencing of Chad Boyd serves as a stark reminder of the need for continued vigilance and cooperation in the fight against methamphetamine trafficking.
