Alfredo Capote, a man with a taste for terror, was convicted of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and her 17-year-old son in Gwinnett County, Georgia. The gruesome crime went down on April 7, 2016, when Capote staged a fake robbery at the victim’s home, tying up both her and her son before sexually assaulting her.
Capote’s twisted plan took the victim on a two-day journey across Georgia, stopping in Austell and other cities before she finally escaped and found safety.
The victim’s ordeal didn’t end there. She was gunned down mere weeks after her rescue, leaving her family reeling in grief.
But in the end, justice was served. A federal jury delivered a guilty verdict against Capote, who was already facing charges of fraud and money laundering at the time of the kidnapping.
U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg praised the strong federal and local law enforcement partnerships that led to Capote’s capture and conviction.
