A brutal gang war has come to an end in Columbus, Georgia. The Zohannon Gang, a notorious crew tied to Mexican cartels, was brought down in a massive takedown known as Operation Sweet Silence. The operation, a joint effort between federal and local law enforcement, seized guns, cash, and kilograms of cocaine.
For years, the Zohannon Gang terrorized Columbus, responsible for a wave of violent crime. But authorities say their reign of terror is over. ‘This is what a successful operation looks like – dangerous gangs dismantled, guns and drugs off our streets,’ said U.S. Attorney William R. Keyes.
Law enforcement agencies worked tirelessly for years to uncover the gang’s full scope. ‘This investigation represents the very best of law enforcement collaboration,’ said Jae W. Chung, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Atlanta Field Division.
With the Zohannon Gang dismantled, communities in Columbus can now breathe a sigh of relief. The successful operation serves as a warning to other gangs: you’re on notice.
