Brandon Rashaad Hill, a 31-year-old Sandston man, was caught possessing a firearm as a convicted felon in a North Chesterfield gas station on January 26. Hill, who has been convicted twice previously for the same crime, was approached by an officer after a woman reported being kidnapped. As the officer attempted to detain him, Hill pulled away, hurdled over a fruit stand, and dropped a handgun from his waistband before fleeing the scene.
Hill was quickly apprehended by other responding officers and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. This was not Hill’s first run-in with the law, having been released from prison on February 28, 2025, and again on October 8, 2025, after violating his supervised release.
Hill’s latest conviction has resulted in a sentence of five years and five months in prison. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Albert Flores Jr. and John C. Blanchard, as well as Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeremiah Johansen, an Assistant Attorney General with the Virginia Attorney General’s Office.
The sentencing was announced by Theophani K. Stamos, First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Anthony A. Spotswood, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Washington Field Division.
