Otemeo Dupree Williams, Firearm Possession by Felon, Pennsylvania 2024

ERIE, Pa. – Otemeo Dupree Williams, a 32-year-old resident of Erie, Pennsylvania, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Erie on a charge of violating federal firearm laws.

According to the indictment, Williams unlawfully possessed a firearm while being prohibited from firearm possession because he is a convicted felon. Assistant United States Attorney Marshall J. Piccinini is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.

The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

The indictment was a result of an investigation led by the Erie Bureau of Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods. This collaborative effort aims to prevent, deter, and prosecute gun crime through the joint efforts of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and communities.

An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. The case will now proceed to trial, where the prosecution will present its case against Williams.

Williams’ indictment is a stark reminder of the serious consequences of violating federal firearm laws. As the investigation continues, the community can expect to see increased efforts to combat gun crime and hold perpetrators accountable.

The case highlights the importance of community partnerships in preventing gun violence and promoting public safety. By working together, law enforcement agencies and prosecutors can effectively combat gun crime and keep our communities safe.
