Bobby Tyrell Davis, a 41-year-old felon from Simpsonville, South Carolina, originally from Detroit, Michigan, has been sentenced for conspiring to distribute fentanyl, heroin, and marijuana in the Upstate region of South Carolina. Davis, who was released from prison in 2017 after serving time for heroin trafficking, resumed his drug trafficking operation later that year. By 2024, he was obtaining fentanyl and heroin from Detroit and distributing it locally, using a co-defendant, Zachary Goosby, to conduct hand-to-hand sales.
Davis’s operation involved laundering drug proceeds to avoid detection. However, on September 17, 2025, law enforcement conducted a search warrant at his residence, finding multiple loaded firearms. As a convicted felon, Davis was prohibited from possessing firearms, adding to his list of charges.
Davis’s sentence includes 10 years in federal prison, followed by a four-year term of court-ordered supervision. His co-defendant, Zachary Goosby, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute heroin and fentanyl and is awaiting sentencing. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Homeland Security Investigations, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and the Greenville Drug Enforcement Unit.
The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jamie Lea Schoen, with United States District Judge Jacquelyn D. Austin presiding over the case. The sentence reflects the severity of Davis’s crimes and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in the region.
