Olundi Uhuru Anderson, a 52-year-old felon from Lexington, South Carolina, was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for unlawful possession of a firearm. The incident occurred on January 7, 2025, when Anderson fled from a traffic stop near the intersection of Broad River Road and Bush River Road in Richland County. Anderson, who has a lengthy criminal history, was found to be in possession of a loaded pistol, crack cocaine, and an open container of alcohol. His prior convictions include robbery, grand theft, and battery on a law enforcement officer, which prohibit him from possessing firearms or ammunition under federal law.
Anderson’s arrest was the result of a brief pursuit that ended when his vehicle struck a curb. A search of the vehicle revealed the loaded pistol, crack cocaine, and open container of alcohol. The evidence was presented in court, and Anderson pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ariyana Gore prosecuted the case, which is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating violent crime and protecting communities.
United States District Judge Joseph Anderson sentenced Olundi Uhuru Anderson to 41 months in prison, to be followed by three years of court-ordered supervision. With no parole in the federal system, Anderson will serve his full sentence.
