A UK investigation led to the arrest of David Lynn Wells, 32, in Anderson, SC. British authorities reviewing a suspect’s devices found a 2020 video call where an adult male raped a baby boy. The name ‘David Wells’ was visible on the screen.
HSI investigators identified Wells after finding a prior mugshot in Anderson County, SC. They located the victim’s mother, who knew Wells and lived in the same apartment complex. Agents showed her sanitized images of the video, and she identified Wells, the child, and Wells’ apartment.
Wells was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for making and distributing child sex abuse material. U.S. Attorney Bryan Stirling called the conduct ‘depraved and unfathomable.’
HSI’s Mark M. Zito said the case sends a powerful message: those who exploit children will face the full force of the law. The agency will continue to pursue offenders and bring them to justice.
