Steven Charles Givens, a 52-year-old Oklahoma City man, has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for pointing a firearm at three people inside a vehicle on September 28, 2025. Givens, a convicted felon, blocked the vehicle’s path with his own car and threatened to kill the occupants for over eight minutes. He was arrested by Oklahoma City Police Department officers and later charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Givens pleaded guilty to the charge on January 6, 2026, and admitted to possessing a firearm despite his previous felony convictions. His criminal history includes second-degree burglary, robbery by force, possession of a controlled substance, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
At his sentencing hearing on July 9, 2026, U.S. District Judge Jodi W. Dishman noted Givens’ dangerous behavior, the need to protect the public, and the need for significant deterrence. Givens was sentenced to 144 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
Givens’ attempt to pressure and influence a witness to stop cooperating with law enforcement after his arrest was also taken into account during sentencing. His significant criminal history and reckless behavior ultimately led to his lengthy prison sentence.
