RALEIGH – A Rocky Mount man has been sentenced to 20 years behind bars for his role in a firearm and drug deal that went horribly wrong.
DARION DEVON JOHNSON, 35, was sentenced to 240 months imprisonment, followed by 3 years of supervised release, by United States District Judge Terrence W. Boyle in federal court.
The charges against JOHNSON stem from a seven-count indictment filed on May 20, 2015, which alleged he committed various firearm and drug offenses. On October 29, 2015, JOHNSON pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Distribution of a quantity of Cocaine Base (Crack).
According to the investigation, on April 11, 2013, JOHNSON made a sale of a .22 caliber rifle and a quantity of cocaine base, which was captured on audio and video surveillance. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Assistant United States Attorney Carrie Randa represented the government in the case.
