Felony Firearm Possession Lands Ringgold Man 63 Months in Prison
A 44-year-old Ringgold man has been sentenced to 63 months in prison for possessing 11 firearms and ammunition after being convicted of a felony.
Brady D. Alsup, of Ringgold, Louisiana, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Elizabeth E. Foote on one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The sentence also includes three years of supervised release and a $10,000 fine.
According to the October 11, 2016 guilty plea, after receiving information that firearms were present on Alsup’s property, law enforcement agents conducted a search of his residence on October 14, 2015 and found six rifles, four shotguns, a revolver and assorted ammunition.
The defendant was previously convicted in 2007 of a felony and is not allowed to possess a firearm. This is a clear violation of the law and a serious threat to public safety.
The investigation and prosecution of Brady D. Alsup is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a initiative to promote firearm safety and to reduce firearm crimes by preventing the possession and use of firearms by dangerous and persistent felons and others not authorized to possess a firearm.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) conducted the investigation and Assistant U.S. Attorney James G. Cowles Jr. prosecuted the case.
