Eduardo Misael Garcia-Sanchez, a 29-year-old Mexican national, was busted on August 5, 2025, for possessing fentanyl with intent to distribute in Portland, Oregon. Investigators with the Clackamas County Interagency Task Force (CCITF) had been tracking Garcia-Sanchez, who was suspected of supplying various drug dealers in the area. A traffic stop by an Oregon State Police (OSP) Trooper led to the discovery of a large bundle of cash, apparent heroin, and a clear plastic bag containing approximately 10 individual bindles of fentanyl.
The search of Garcia-Sanchez’s vehicle yielded a significant haul: 120.9 grams of fentanyl powder, 51.8 grams of heroin, and $5,349 in U.S. Currency. Garcia-Sanchez was taken into custody and later pleaded guilty to Count 1 of the Indictment on May 12, 2026.
Garcia-Sanchez’s prior drug dealing convictions earned him career offender status, resulting in a sentence of 100 months in federal prison and 4 years’ supervised release. U.S. Attorney Scott E. Bradford praised the teamwork amongst law enforcement agencies, saying it was a prime example of collaboration to bring a drug dealer to justice.
The sentence marks a significant blow to the distribution of dangerous drugs in Oregon communities. With the help of brave law enforcement officers, the flow of fentanyl and other illicit substances can be disrupted, making the streets safer for residents.
