Obmar Garcia-Galban, 25, pleaded guilty today to possessing with intent to distribute a lethal cocktail of drugs and illegally carrying a firearm while doing it. According to court documents, on December 19, 2024, law enforcement discovered Garcia-Galban’s vehicle packed with 124.6 grams of pure fentanyl – a substance where just a few milligrams can be fatal. He was also carrying approximately 1.99 kilograms of a dangerous mix known as “Tusi,” containing MDMA and ketamine, and a handgun with its serial number deliberately removed, a classic move to evade tracing. This wasn’t a random stop; investigators were clearly onto something.
Garcia-Galban didn’t bother denying his intent. During questioning, he freely admitted he planned to sell the fentanyl, Tusi, and even the defaced firearm to a contact in Florida. The feds are throwing everything they have at this problem, streamlining resources from the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) and Project Safe Neighborhoods. Garcia-Galban is just one piece of a much larger puzzle.
This investigation, spearheaded by the Drug Enforcement Administration, highlights the relentless flow of dangerous drugs across state lines. The OCDETF program, which played a key role in this case, focuses on taking down the *highest-level* criminal organizations, not just the mules.
