Timothy Harris, Fentanyl Trafficking, Montana 2023

⏱ 2 min read

Timothy Harris, a 56-year-old Washington man, was involved in a fentanyl trafficking ring that operated in Havre and the Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation in Montana from May 2023 to June 19, 2023. Harris conspired with others to distribute fentanyl, selling pills to individuals on the reservation and in other areas. The ring’s operation involved fronting hundreds of pills at a time to sellers, who would then distribute them to buyers.

Harris’s dealings were uncovered through a series of controlled purchases, including a May 18, 2023, transaction in which he sold 30 fentanyl pills for $800. Further purchases were made on May 31, 2023, and June 15, 2023, with Harris directing buyers to meet his co-defendant in a hotel parking lot in Havre.

A search warrant executed on June 19, 2023, uncovered a stash of 3,200 fentanyl pills, a loaded handgun, and other evidence in a motel room rented by Harris’s co-defendant. The investigation, conducted by the FBI and the Tri-Agency Task Force, led to Harris’s guilty plea in November 2025 to conspiracy to possess with the intent to deliver fentanyl.

Harris was sentenced to 60 months of imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release. The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, with Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris presiding.
